Charity walk planned for May 10
The 36th annual Hawaii Lodging &Tourism Association Visitor Industry Charity Walk will raise money for local charities May 10 at Mauna Lani Resort.
Since its inception in 1978, the event has raised more than $26.4 million for charities across the state.

Keauhou freshwater aquifer meeting scheduled Thursday
The Kona Hawaiian Civic Club is hosting the National Park Service and Makani Hou O Kaloko-Honokohau for a presentation of the Water Management Action Plan petition for protection of the Keauhou freshwater aquifer. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Kaniohale Community Center.
The public is encouraged to attend to get the facts about this important proposal to protect water quality for future generations of Kona residents and visitors. For more information, call 345-2453.
Event provides information to the blind
The Kona Blind and Low Vision Support Group will feature an “info day” during its monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Friday at Hale Halawai.
The event is a follow up to last month’s resource day. The event will provide information sheets on useful topics such as basic tools and technology, domestic mail code for the blind and disabled and guide dogs. There will also be an assortment of assistive gadgets to try.

Hawaii Families as Allies representative addresses hui
West Hawaii Hui Laulima will meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon Friday in the West Hawaii Community Health Center Community Meeting Room.
The guest speaker is Alice Bratton, Kona and Waimea parent partner of Hawaii Families as Allies, hfaa.net, a statewide parent-controlled family network organization recognized as a voice on behalf of families of children and youth with emotional, behavioral or mental health challenges.
